I use this blog to share some results from placing camera traps in interesting areas throughout South Africa to discover what wildlife still lives there. Since I'm a Mac user, I've sent it to my daughters who are more computer savvy than I am. But it sounds like a wonderful tool, and I'll get familiar with it, so I can use in my camera trapping workshops.
ReplyDeleteWildLog is written in Java (1.6) and should in theory be able to run on a Mac, but I guess I might need to iron out a few small issues before it will work 100%. I uploaded a ZIP version of the program to bypass the MSI installer issues, but I'll be surprised if it works 100%... The Mac will need Java 1.6 to be installed on it for the application to work. If I can get my paws on a Mac I’ll try and test it out and provide a Mac version as well in the future.
ReplyDeleteCurrently WildLog is very much developed for my own personal use and has some South Africa specific features, but I might be able to create an American version if need be (for your workshop). Let me know if you are interested.
Henry
Hello
ReplyDeleteI've have installed Wildlog, looks like a really useful tool, I say "looks" because I'm not sure how to use it. Do you have a tutorial or something similar.
Thanks for sharing the software!
Juan
Hi Juani
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're interested in WildLog. The application has grown a lot since v1.6 (I'm currently using/working on v3.0 myself). I'll try to release the latest version and do a blog post on it during the next month. Unfortuanately you won't be able to easily upgrade to the new version because of major changes in the background. (Usually I try to keep upgrades in mind.)
I think v1.6 came with a short PDF user guide. Try looking in the Start Menu -> WildLog folder.
Thanks
Henry
